Back in 1991, after TIME magazine had published a cover story on Multiculturalism, someone wrote to the editor the following: “Behind the banner of Multiculturalism rises the specter of tribalism.”
I don’t remember who wrote it, but he or she deserves a medal. That reader saw the danger long before too many of us did.
