No one is trying to diminish England’s role in defeating the Nazis. However, there are questions which part of Hitler’s idea they were truly fighting against. And yes, the same could be said for America. The history is there for everyone to read. Surely, though, you cannot deny England’s long history of institutionalized Antisemitism beginning with the Magna Carta. Your response could and should be to ask about America’s history of slavery. Fine.
But the point is, where do you stand today? There are no British Colonies that Hitler is trying to steal. All that remains of the Reich is the hatred. Can you stand up against it? Do you want to stand up against it? And if you do, will you be safe? If the answer to any of those questions is ‘no’, then your idea of England is gone.
