Your myopic assumptions belittle the inherent common sense and intuition within level-headed people.
Your assertion that the pre-christian past has been willfully buried by the europeans is simply a prevarication of past events. I doubt many people know or care to know what their home town was like 30 years ago and certainly trying to reconstruct past civilizations which offered few enduring works of art and literature or architectual landmarks is of limited interest for societies today.
When India’s new wealth leads to the inevitable urban renewal you will then have the “context to understand this.”
