If Bush were running for re-election, Iraq would still be portrayed as an ongoing disaster.
Look at how far the media went in 2004 to discredit Bush: Turning the misbehavior of a few National Guard troops into the months long Abu Ghraib scandal; Making the liar Joe Wilson into a hero for supporting (falsely) the claim that Bush should have known there were no WMD; Promoting the poseur and traitor John Kerry while trashing Bush’s honorable military service.
