Tea Party Protests Sweep the Country: But What’s the Message? (Updated)
There does seem to be some lack of clarity in the tea party protest message. BUT, I don’t think we should over-analyze it, or allow it to freeze us into inaction. This is the real sort of diversity in which there is strength. I would wager that at any given Leftie protest there are hard core true believers, and a herd of sheeple who don’t know exactly why they are there other than to ‘protest.’
Our main unifier may be “we are mad as hell & we’re not going to take it anymore” but what is the “It”? One good reason not to over-analyze is there is PLENTY of things to dislike about the current administration and where it is going. It would be a mistake to shoehorn people into accepting a specific multi-point platform. Here would be my planks: Pro-Life; Religious Freedom; Lower Taxes; Smaller Gov’t; 2nd Amendment; Pro-Family; Freedom of choice in education; Pro-constitution. Can you agree with 1? 2? Resist the temptation to focus on what separates us and focus instead on what unites us or we will ever be runner-up in a 2-horse race.
