To one of your own (post 13): Charity is fine and good but socialist “charity” is coerced. You’re not giving out of an altruistic spirit; you’re giving because the government takes from you.
Also, how much of the Stimulus bill involves charity? The spending bill includes money for golf carts. It gives a huge amount of money to ACORN, an organization that pretends to help the poor but which in fact wants to implement a far-left agenda (“rubbing raw” the discontent in the community in order to produce revolution). Did you know that ACORN in the 1990s wanted to force the banks to make risky home loans to poor people? Spending an enormous amount of “stimulus” money could very easily not fix the economy and in fact harm other economies. I personally believe that Obama is using the Stimulus bill as an excuse to help implement socialism. It contains way too much pork.
