The One’s behavior, especially regarding taxation, reminds me of another quote from a western; “The Magnificent Seven” (1960).
Regarding the peasants he robs and oppresses, Calvera (Eli Wallach) says, “If God hadn’t meant them to be sheared, he would not have made them sheep”.
The One, and progressives in general, regard the American people in just that way. And of course sheep are made into mutton when the owner wishes it.
