Give Up the Racist Narrative: A Letter to Attorney General Eric Holder
A thoughtful, well written critique and I hope that it somehow gets to Holder and is widely disseminated. I’m forwarding it to my list.
Today I met with a rabid anti-Bush, Obama lover for the first time since before the election and it was obvious to see that she was doubting the Messiah of the Chicago Machine. She practically begged me to agree that it was worth being taxed back to the Stone Age to know that “poor people” all had health care. She was crestfallen when I pointed her to former NY Lt. Governor Betsy McCoy Ross’ article in the Wall St Journal about how Obama’s health plan will mean us baby boomer having to learn to accept death and not spend money on seeking “radical” cures for what may threaten our lives. I asked her how she thought the gov’t was at running programs and she admitted it was a disaster. She finally seemed to be able to connect the various boxes of info she had kept separate for so long. Now that is the kind of hope I’m seeking. We all need to keep doing triage educating of those whose enlightened self-interest, i.e., being a lot closer to poverty, will allow them to remove the biblical “mote” in their eye Mr. Siegel refers to. The cracks in Barack’s wall of support are starting to show but we need to cause a groundswell of opposition to this orgy of spending and power grabbing and wealth re-distribution or else, as Alan Keyes has so precisely stated, America will cease to exist. Sad but true.
