I support the boycott. I’m not asking Ford to come out against gay rights. I just want them to stay out of the political arena. Politics is not the place for businesses to participate. Ford needs to be neutral on the issue and quit funding gay/lesbian activist groups.
For the record, I used to own a Ford Ranger and I loved it. I would buy another today if not for the boycott. Then again, my wife and I went to a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Chevy Malibu. Both cars run better and have a better maintenance record than my Ranger (less than 60K miles) did. My wife is determined to stick with Jeeps from now on and I’m getting a GMC Sierra for my new vehicle because my dad’s has been such a good truck.
My mother is also participating in the boycott. She’s actively searching for a new car right now, and she won’t let my dad set foot on any dealership that is a Ford product.
Ford’s Board of Directors needs to realize that they’re job is to make profits. To do that, they need to build a better car and offer at least a 100K warrantee. The next step is to stay neutral on political issues. Its a sad day when a mere 80K people out of the adult carbuying population of America will make the difference between profit and loss. Ford needs new leadership and the union should call for that instead of agreeing to lower wages.
