Despite the rhetoric, people of “color” have been given a free ride for about a generation via affirmative action. If we really do need to be judged as members of “groups,” rather than on our individual merits, then lets make an honest appraisal of just how each “group” is doing. If the key question for any member of any group is “what are the people from the other group doing for me?” we will come up with a dynamic that the “people of color” don’t really want to see.
