“How are these signs any different than fundamentalist Christians listing their own countdown to the apocalypse, and their desire to bring it about?…” Gosh, how about the fact that Pat Robertson cannot access the secret codes to the nuclear football; that he has no influence
in either State, NSC, DOD, Joint Chiefs, etc.; that he is subject to the scorn of much of informed opinion and powerful government officials; that so far he has not been able to galvanize his followers to attempt a civil insurrection; and that his loyal followers–in their idle times, generally do not march down streets burning prominent figures from other nations or religions.
