Does Ms Gould live in London? Of course she does. In London 25-33% of the people are foreign nationals. Another bunch, 10-25%, are foreigners or the children of foreigners who hold British passports.
Outside London, in England, we are a decent tolerant bunch. What happens in London is nothing to do with us. The BBC is nothing to do with us. The Scottish government in London is nothing to do with us. We tend to read the Daily Mail & Daily Telegraph. We are NOT members of the GRC (Guardian Reading Classes). We think the war in Afghanistan is silly. We think Americans are arrogant. When your new president says he is going to change the world, we say – hang on – don’t bother! We noticed that the film “Saving Private Ryan” didn’t mention that over half the troops landing on D-Day were British or Canadian. How many Americans know that?
