There is a very good chance the New York Times endorsement will crush John McCain’s hopes in Florida. This is a state where he dares not come in second. Were the Times’ editors behaving in a cynical and manipulative manner? No, they likely still think their paper is respected and influential. There was one national leader, I might add, who was helped into power via the assistance of the NY Times. His name is Fidel Castro.
