Actually, totalitarianism will appear in the United States from the left, not the right. Open your eyes – you’re ceding your liberty by degrees everyday to leftist, politically correct, dogma. The left clamors to tell us what we should properly think and say, what we should eat, what form of transportation we should use, where we should live, etc. The left’s urge to coercion is apparently boundless. All you moralizing busybodies lack is the power of government to force us to make virtuous decisions. And it’s laughable to assert the left believes in “liberty, fairness and equality.” First of all “fairness” is in the eye of the beholder. Two parties to a disagreement will never agree on what is “fair.” That brings us to “liberty” and “equality.” You pat yourself on the back for believing in both but I’m afraid you’ll have to choose between the two David. Choose liberty or choose equality but you can’t have both. In order to arrange utopian equality for the many you must necessarily limit the freedoms of the many. Equality can be imposed no other way.
