HBO Presents: Conservatives as Ignorant Racists Who Cling to God and Guns

The minute Reagan left, the GOP sank into an exclusionist approach that has marginalized it. No more worrying about ideas! Now we can go back to being corrupt snobs like we want to be.
Worrying all night about gays getting married is about as productive–and less principled– as defending “state’s rights” to allow people to refuse sales of houses to blacks.
The GOP ought to be the party of maxiumum individual liberty. Instead it has become encrusted with country club republicans like Elihu Smailes (the judge in Caddyshack).
Worse, we have people who can’t make HBO movies or write books taking pot shots at Pelosi the Younger’s looks. Oh THAT’LL show them: didn’t we spend ooodles of time tssking the Democrats for making fun of the woman who ratted out Monica Lewinsky? What do we say about the people that called Lincoln a baboon?
Mark Malone notes that Peosi seems charming enough. Then out comes Pelto, who has been mercifuly absent for months, to suggest Malone is a sycophant for focusing on issues not looks. Chuck, go tend to your tomato Colorado tomato bushes and leave the serious talk to the grown ups.
Really, whining about HBO’s special is unbecoming: what did you expect her to make–a boring middle of the road movie–like an Ann Coulter book?
The ability to make our own movies is there. Start filming.
