Very nice article. I agree with the above statement and I hope you’re right.
But I’m not entirely sure the analogy of Carter to Obama is the best one. Perhaps the analogy of Obama’s lack of substance, but not his style.
The more I’ve studied of FDR, the more convinced I have become that much of FDR’s popularity was not based on his greatness as I had been taught as a child, but the fact that FDR had figured correctly in tough economic times, you can buy an election by subsidizing votes.
And that is what I am convinced this regime intends to do, Republic be damned. If Obama can continue to convince half the people that they can not operate without government assistance, and you can deliver the message with a great degree of flair like Obama, you can carry the vote.
