The Bizarre Withdrawal of Commerce Secretary Nominee Judd Gregg
This nomination was pure genius on Obama’s part. Look at what Gregg says:
“I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.”
This demonstrates that Obama is not the cause of the partisan problem. If Gregg had taken the job, he would have had to spend billions, and largely defuse critics of this spending. The GOP also would have potentially lost a precarious NH Senate seat. It was a no-win for the Republicans, guaranteed to break in Obama’s favor. Now he will have a freer hand in selecting a replacement candidate.
“I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership”
I only wish more people could share this positive attitude. It speaks well of the tone in Washington for this kind of talk to be back in vogue.
