And now for something completely different.

I know you wouldn’t even be risking exposing yourself to some of these comments if you didn’t genuinely care for the welfare of your fellow human beings.
So, hopefully you are beginning to think of this giving season and where best to direct your abundant resources.
We were blessed to live in the Memphis, Tennessee area in the years
1991 – 1994. While we were there, my two children and I had the opportunity to visit Heifer International in the beautiful state of Arkansas.
Ed Asner was the spokesman for the organization at the time and he was there when we visited.
Now, I’m sure that Mr. Asner wouldn’t agree with my politics, but that doesn’t bother me. It was a privilege to meet him and I treasure the photograph of him with my kids.
I also treasure the remarks he made about me…that “all the pretty girls were from Memphis.” That is so true, of course, even though I’m not from Memphis.
Most of these comments are so impersonal. I hope you don’t mind this personal story.
While you are sending your prayers that this family finds its way to freedom, how about giving from “the most important gift catalog in the world?”
