I think Magnatune.com might be an example of what’s coming: A company that releases its music in multiple file formats, none protected, allows you to choose what you’ll pay for the music, gives half your payment directly to the musician(s), and allows you (on trust) to give your purchase to up to 3 people. They reject plenty of the music sent to them to be marketed and thus ensure some level of quality.
Might a similar model work for short films and serial programs?
