There is another scenario: Ron Paul will not identify the author of the newsletters, because the author (allegedly) is an ‘aide’ or ‘consultant’ that is close to the campaign. Insiders of the “Neo-Libertarian” movement (Paul included) are very compelled to protect this author’s identity. Go check out any of the popular “Neolibertarian” and “Beltway Libertarian” websites. This scenario is being discussed in hushed tones, heated debate, and “open letters” that beg this “ghost writer” to “fall on the sword of his own making”.
