I’m not intending to let them off the hook; I’m just saying that using their lame excuses (it was a mistake), they’re unwittingly making the case that the tax code is too complicated. For crying out loud, if the tax code is too complicated for the treasury secretary (whether true in fact or not), is there not something grossly wrong with this picture?

Tax return on a post card. End of excuses. And also the end of an enormous industry (maybe they can hire all of those tax accountants and lawyers to fix the roads).
