The only thing more bloated than libertarians’ own individual egos–since you all seem to presume you’re the only ones around with brains–is the idea that your candidate ever stood a snowball’s chance in hell of being elected. You must have operated under this assumption since you guys so readily accuse “the establishment” of being afraid of Ron Paul. (Neocons and Repubs and Dems, oh my! Who’s really afraid here? Libertarians, I say. The proof is in the pudding, which is to say, your language.) You don’t need to believe in the government as bogeyman to have seen from the beginning that Paul would go nowhere. (If you REALLY thought he could be elected then you either live on a mountaintop all alone or else you must be a teenager.) So, in a sense, you libertarians are right–this story is nothing important, but that’s because Ron Paul was never an important candidate.
