It all makes sense once you know in your heart that the destruction of our democracy and replacement with an oligarchy are his goals. If you start with that as the desired result and work it backward, he is following an obvious and logical set of steps towards those goals.
It’s the ultimate irony that he can blame our destruction on the party that has tried to stop it. Apparently he can have his cake and eat ours too.
