What confuses me is how these statements qualify as racism. Obviously the New Republic misunderstands what racism is and what it entails. These statements, whether Ron Paul said them or not, are not controversial because they are racist (although the lazy-minded would like to think so), but because there is some truth to them. Ron Paul has long crusaded against reverse racism, affirmative action, quotas, etc – because they CAUSE the very conditions he is (rightly) describing.
We have to get beyond this pointless name calling and the misuse of the word ‘racism’ so we can look at the situation honestly and hopefully realize it our sensitivity to ‘race’ and our mindless desire for ‘diversity’ that keeps us from true equality under individuality.
