I am all for energy independence—but it may do little in the immediate future to defeat terrorism. The United States will have to continue positioning its troops in the Middle East even if we no longer need a drop of Arab oil. Many other countries will still be sending money to that part of the world.
I am a supporter of Rudy Giuliani. He thankfully realizes that the president must never stop reminding Americans that the war on terror is not over. This is one of the greatest failures of the present administration. The politically correct George W. Bush is hesitant to talk about Islamic nihilism due to his fear of offending peaceful Muslims. This well meaning attitude has caused enormous destruction.
