There are two alternatives 1. You want to avoid talking aobut the critical issues of the day, becasue your have not solutions -2. You don’t know anything about the critical issues of the day and you do not want to make a fool of yourself. So you focus on trivial issues that feed the irrational beliefs of the wingnuts.
