(I have been to the graves in Normandy. Plenty of six-pointed stars there. My Jewish father served in Vietnam and earned a bronze star. My son is thinking about the US military now. I think college first, but OK if you want… My state district congressman is a Jewish veteran from Iraq – two tours with many awards)
Russian-Jewish parents sent their youth off to die in defense of mother Russia. Their decendants now mostly live in Israel. (I have a picture of one, my great-uncle in the Czars army. A trumpet player actually.)
German-Jewish parents in WWI sent their youth off to die in defense of their beloved homeland. On Kristalnacht they tried in vain to display their Iron Crosses and medals in their shop windows…then the Brownshirts came.
So what is the point? Jews send off their ‘youth’ to fight in wars same as anyone else.
There is a serious difference between taking an 18-20 year old with training and appropriate full-time professional leadership, in a conventional military, and literally grabbing an 8 year old, holding him kicking and screaming, in front of you to use as a shield in the midst of a firefight. Would you like to see the video?
Would you like to see videos of a mentally challenged 16 year old with bombs strapped to his body by Hamas at a Gaza checkpoint?
There is a difference between basing military assets in the basement of a hospital or school as opposed to designated military areas.
An Israeli soldier (or US, French or whatever) is not a ‘child’. All of us recognize the diffence between a defenceless 8 year old and a trained 18-20 year old in the regular military. Yes we all now how sad it is that the grey-beards send up our best ‘youth’ to die. That is hardly unique to Israel.
If you want to make a case against Israel this is not the way to go.
