Consistency may seem like the hobgoglin of little minds to philosophers, but its called fairness in most other situations, and is needed for objectivity in most.
Barack Obama throughout the campaign demonstrated rather glaring inconsistencies.
One example was gun control/2nd amendment. First, he said he agreed with the Washington DC ban on private ownership of guns in the home. Then, when the Supreme Court ruled the DC ban unconstitutional, Obama found a “Constitutional” right to keep private guns (not in a dismantled condition, as the DC ban required) in the home. (the law was stupid in the first place, oh, you can keep guns in the home, but they have to be kept in little pieces ! brilliant)
His stance on NAFTA seemed to be all over the map, depending on which audience he was addressing. At one point when Obama was saying it had to be re-negotiated, one of his people (David Alexrod ?) told Canada not to worry about that position, Obama didn’t mean it.
Iraq ? He faithfully held to the Leftoid mantra that Iraq was an abject failure, repeating it over and over. Then he acknowledged in an interview with Bill O’Reilly that the surge had been a “resounding success”.
Huh ?
Even some in the entrenched media, after he’d won, said they really hadn’t much of clue what he stood for. (I have one little clue, weak Americans needing a Jabba the Hutt style federal government)
I repeat(since you seem unwilling or unable to appreciate this) Barack Obama PAC’s received some of the biggest Fannie & Freddie payouts of any Senator, as the housing débacle was unfolding. He did nothing to stem that tide, why would he ? They were contributing handsomely to him.
Barack Obama, on a number of topics (grandma a racist ? toss her under the bus ! can’t ever abandon Reverend GodDamn America ! out you go, JWright ! ) demonstrated a rather ad hoc, pragmatic inconsistency throughout the duration of his nearly 2 year run, depending on what looked good to do at a given moment in time.
He wears a mirrored suit, and all you clones out there can see reflected what you wanted to see reflected. You’ve declared him, uh, uh, smooth and brilliant, yet you’ve never been privy to his academic performance at columbia & harvard because he wouldn’t release his transcripts.
He may do ok, given the reality check of some of the information of which he’s been apprised since Nov. 4.
He may even find that he has to be, you know, even more inconsistent on many topics he blithely spouted about during the campaign. He’s already backtracked on “getting” bin laden, immediately closing Guantanamo, some of the tax stuff, oops, he may keep some of those interrogation procedures in place when it comes to “terrorism”.
Now that the democrats control the legislature & the executive, expect to hear a lot less complaining about big government usurpation of individual rights.
Most of you people will go along with anything your party foists & proposes, When it’s your team abrogating your “rights”, you say, have at it, willingly walking to slaughter like good Useful Idiots.
Your party knows what sheeple you are and exploits it every day.
For the record, the Emerson quote is …a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
