#66 Ian:
“I would like to stand up for the British people. The vast majority are not anti-Semitic.”
I’d like to, also, being a bit of an Anglophile, and haing served alongside the gallant “7th Bats” in Desert Storm.
But the Limeys blow hot n’ cold, y’know?
When they stand up, they’re the most dependable crew to “have your back” going.
But when they don’t…well…that exchange between those two dames that Furedi related in the story…who ARE those people?
I’d like to think that they’re certainly NOT British.
Sure, the UK has a hostory of anti-semitism, but it’s a genteel kind of “snubbing at the club” sort of thing…no pogroms or camps on England’s fair soil…ever.
And when the chips were down, and it REALLY counted, be it remembered that every Jew whose feet hit King George VI’s realm was SAVED.
Yet a few decades later we hear of this kind of rot?
For shame.
Britannia…remember who and what you were, and strive to be that once more.
