Contrary to Eteraz’s claim, Mansoor Ijaz suggests that “Musharraf set up an independent international investigation surrounding the killing of Ms. Bhutto” not that the US should call for Musharraf to do so.
An independent internatonal investigation sounds like a good idea, but I have no idea how practical it is in terms of Pakistani politics, and I’m not keen on it as something the United States “must” do.
Given that Pakistanis accord Bin Laden a 46% approval rating, I’m not sure how receptive they would be to such an investigation or how likely they are to conclude that the “US is looking out for them.”
