so, the more general answer to the question of “why?” is that the leaders of Iran are much smarter than the political leadership in this country (of both parties, btw)…this might be news to some, but not to me…they’ve been outsmarting the US on a regular basis since 1979, and we continue to sit and take it…and there’s no hint that it’s gonna change anytime soon either no matter who wins the presidency in ’08.
