“He cites no evidence, however, justifying the claim that Kennedy was thus a victim of the worldwide communist conspiracy.”

James Piereson does not argue that Lee Harvey Oswald was a member of a “worldwide communist conspiracy.” He contends the murderer of John F. Kennedy was a convinced Communist—and that’s all that really matters! The leftist establishment, however, ran a scam job on the American people implying, if not even explicitly stating, that conservative Republicans assassinated JFK. Needless to add, the Soviet Union also encouraged this libel. This myth took hold to the detriment of the Democratic Party, which soon afterwards indulged in self-hating Americanism. A few years later the anti-anti Communist Left represented by George McGovern captured the Democratic Party. Historians like Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. knew the truth, but disgracefully let the crazies have their way. He ultimately only cared about helping Democrats win elections.
