The reason he wants the jihadis imprisoned in Illinois rather than Gitmo is so that he can make sure that they are properly coddled.
Hey, I don’t like Gitmo either – these are illegal combatants who are entitled to the protection of no law and who should have been shot or hanged a long time ago. As long as any of them are alive, our enemies will use them against us in one way or another. They all freely CHOSE, as individuals, to make unprovoked war upon the US.
Some Gitmo prisoners have been released and have resumed fighting against the US. The rest of them are living at taxpayer expense. At the very least, we have no business allowing them to read about, discuss, or practice Islam in prison, just as we did not let Nazi war criminals continue with Nazism in prison.
