All this bad #&^@ was happening with the commission in existence. And what was the commission doing? Holding meetings. Writing reports. Raising consciousness. A.k.a., squat. We can’t afford everything. And as we conservatives like to remind liberals: good intentions aren’t enough. The work of protecting religious freedom around the world is hugely important. I’m failing to see how this line item in the budget did diddly to protect it. Two cheers for Dick Durbin finding an acorn when the clock was stopped twice a day.
