There is a huge difference between funding the NEA in order to pay for ‘art’ of dubious merit and funding an organization to promote freedom of expression. If the main purpose of the NEA were to fight for artistic freedom in places where it is trampled down, then your concerns/attacks would have some merit. The issue many have with the NEA is that it pays for a product that, in this country anyway, the market should decide on the merits rather than the taxpayers.
