For sure we can all know that bungling on the part of politicians & bureaucrats have exposed this nation to all sorts of dangers. If even half of what is reported here is accurate, it sure also explains to me why Sandy Berger was so interested in removing documents from the National Archives in his underwear & socks. Perhaps such memo’s existed that would have dramatically shown contacts like this were ignored or derided by admin. insiders who took offense to someone doing diplomatic interface that “they” did not control or could not take credit for?!

Terrorism transcends traditional crime positions. Terrorism is war in all its ugly forms. So long as we treat terrorism & terrorists as mere criminals, we risk having a concentrated effort by radicals to destroy this nation, even though the terrorists represent only their own interests!

The question put to Romney in the debate format, was an improper place to make that kind of contact. If this guy could be useful to the government, then he needs to make that contact quietly & to present documentation how he can be useful as an official or unofficial contact. Once he becomes official, he becomes one of the hated Satan’s government representatives. That means among those he has contact with in Sudan & elsewhere, he loses credibility to negotiate as an unofficial official they feel they can deal with!

The debate question had more to do with political point scoring in a public forum in my opinion than with offering his services to his country!
