As the book The Siege of Mecca illustrates and this piece re-confirms, it is incredible how much plain evidence the American government has been presented, generally in the context of actual terrorist operational success and in light of their plain disclosures, and yet never done much or anything about it. I wonder whether they were concentrating on another threat? I’ll never forget McCain’s off-handed remark concerning the Millenium Plot that “yeah, but there were other things we were worried about” (not referring to the Y2K thing). I’ve always wished he could have disclosed what that was, considering how blindsided everyone was by al Qaeda.
