If you recall, our chums on the Left said the same thing about Reagan, and in the latter half of the second term, may even have had a point, but he turned out okay.
Because largely he picked experienced and loyal people,(Don Regan as CofS and Robert Gates at CIA exceptions…I said experienced, not necessarily “good”).
And Obama isn’t the only playa in the game…
I’ve always held Nancy Reagan in the highest esteem, since it was she who made sure the “supporting cast” ALWAYS remembered that Ronnie was the “star” of the picture.
We saw what happens when the First Lady doesn’t have her boy’s back 24/7 with the Clintons, didn’t we?
I suspect that Michelle Obama is much more in the “Nancy” model than the “Hillary” one.
Don’t EVER discount or dismiss the influence of the First Lady in the Oval Office. She gets at least 6 hours pillow time with the POTUS every night.
There are people in DC who would cheerfully cough up a kidney for a 15 minute coffee chat with the Prez 3 times a week.
