Ignored by the media? And rightly so. Somali is a country of moderate Muslims, and the only reason that Islamists become periodically popular is because the US and its allies (the UN, the AU, and Ethiopia) keep on invading the country and supporting warlords. Somalia has a natural tendency towards peaceful anarchy without the Islamist bend – it’s only when the West comes in and tries to impose a government that a) things get violent and b) the Islamists become more popular.
