One of my community activities is that I am Cub Master of Pack 928 in Rockville, MD. We are planning similar donations to troops in Iraq (the unit of a family member of one of our Den leaders). Thank goodness we are not encountering the headwinds that Troop 45 did!
Your final point is dead-on: patriotism is alive and well . . . wherever one looks.
