Sorry, Dave, that’s a fairy tale. Even Lincoln was described by his law partner Herndon as “the most ambitious man in the world”, and Lincoln was not merely the humble saint most people think him to be. But Lincoln WAS a great man, and his ambition doesn’t diminish that.
