It’s worth noting that Obama, himself, has made statements of similar effect about his first book – both in his second book and in one-on-one interviews.
To paraphrase, he basically said, “I regret that I took my mother so much for granted in my earlier years. Se was an amazing person. If I had known when I wrote the first book that she would be gone only a few years later, the book would have been much different.”
