Mary Madigan and all others looking at this with a Western point of view. It’s quite simple really. In Islamic eschatology, the Mahdi (the Enlightened One)will stride the earth (Sunni) or return (Shi’a) and establish an Islamic Caliphate by conquest. Muslims and converts will be saved and all others will die. After this is accomplished, Jesus will return and establish justice. He will break the cross and destroy Christianity. Anyone who dies in achieving the Caliphate will be rewarded in Heaven. This is espoused by the Wahabis and Ahmadinejad. There are no alternativs, no amendments, no grounds for negotiations. This is it. Like the Communists however, they will make alliaces and promises, and truces, but these will not be adhered to, they will only be a means to the end. If you doubt this, you do not understand Islamic ideology.
