I am compelled to defend Barack Obama and his top people regarding Blago-gate. At the most, someone likely took whatever the Illinois governor said with a huge grain of salt. Was Blago speaking tongue in cheek, or was he seriously trying to “sell” the U.S. senate seat? My guess is that the listener preferred to believe he was joking. There was just enough wiggle room to give Blago a pass. Republicans have every right to demand a full investigation. Nevertheless, we don’t want to willy-nilly take pot shots at the president-elect. Let’s instead go after substantial matters like the blatant fraud committed by Obama’s presidential campaign! Why get so upset with side issues? There’s little doubt in my mind that top officials of the John McCain campaign would have already been indicted if they disabled their website’s credit card address verifying detector.
