I’m still annoyed that McCain got the nomination. I was a Romney guy; he wasn’t the perfect candidate, but he didn’t do everything he could to undermine our party, principles, and chances of winning the election. The Huckster (see the WV Primary and his unceasing attacks), Gov. “Mr.-So-Popular-He-Couldn’t-Even-Bring-Along-His-State-in-the-General” Crist, and the rest of the gang are the ones responsible for this debacle. We had (and have)veritable stars like Jindal, Palin, Kyl, Flake, and Sanford. Instead, we got stuck with McCain. Ridiculous, just ridiculous!
I voted for (and contributed to) McCain, as well, understanding that anyone would be better than “the One.” Sarah was about the only inspiring thing about the ticket. But the way she was savaged, even by McCain staffers, I still find unbelievable. I, too, find it difficult to say, but it’s probably a good thing that McCain lost. He would have permanently altered the shape of the Republican Party; the Dems and the Republicans would be nearly indistinguishable. My only hope is that our military isn’t destroyed in this, Carter’s second term.
