Pakistan and India will no doubt be on top of Obama’s foreign policy plans because relations between India-Pakistan directly relate top the new US administrations plans for Afghanistan.
Obama has made it very clear that he intends to focus his efforts on Afghanistan when he comes into office. If India and Pakistan hostilities escalate then the Pakistani military will not be able to focus its efforts on FATA and the Taliban and Al Qaeda will be allowed to regroup.
The US must help India in its subsequent investigations to uncover the terror plot in Mumbai and pressure Pakistan to finally take a hard stance not just toward terrorists but toward those who support terrorism.
