This was not really a gaffe. Hillary Clinton was doomed the very moment the question was asked. She is a Democrat and therefore was placed in a no-win situation. Only a Republican candidate can hit this one out of the ballpark. The odds are fairly decent that future historians will point to this incident as the beginning of the end regarding the Democrats chances in the 2008 elections.
