Jerry has not been soothsaying, but looking at the behavior of the Democrats and liberals in general over the past several years (with rare exceptions like Lieberman, purged from the Democratic Party for his excessive loyalty to the USA). He might go back even further. Failure to support the US government in its struggles with enemies of the US has been a hallmark of the Democrats throughout my entire adult lifetime. It goes back to Vietnam. As Jerry says, today’s Democratic Party is fundamentally different, with respect to foreign affairs and defense, than the party of FDR and Truman (or of JFK for that matter).
