From what I’ve read, the Ice Ages recur about every 100,000 years. The intergalcial (warm) period averages about 10,000 years. We’re in year 12,000 (or 20,000, depending on who’s data you adhere to). There’s a big range on the length of the intergalacial periods (8,000 to 20,000 years). So we are in imminent risk of an ice age, or can kick back our heels and not worry about 2 miles of ice over Manhattan for millenia.
One point that I found interesting. In some scientific article (I don’t recall where), it was postulated that an ice age could crank up to full force in just 30-50 years.
Just food for thought. Kinda like picking your poison.
