Of what value is hurricane forecasting? Who actually plans their activity by such forecasts? No one apparently. It is largely a news and entertainment novelty used to scare people into supposing some agency actually knows when disaster will strike.
It has been shown that this is utter nonsense. The real value of NOAA and their sister agencies is the tracking and projection of developed storms.
The budget for this agency must be staggering and the amount of data they collect is mountainous but we can be sure their failures will not deter the continued effort to convince us that they do something useful and important.
The real focus of this activity is highly paid positions for a lifetime in a government funded agency with that ever so important lucrative retirement at the end.
Nobody ever warns the taxpayers of THAT!
